Photo from the Yue Hu park in Laixi

Located an hour north of the seaside city of Qingdao, Laixi lies nestled in the countryside of Shandong Province. Famous for its seafood, coastal beauty and Martial Arts masters, Shandong Province lies along the northeastern Chinese coastline.

Laixi’s lakes and central park provide several scenic locations for students to train. Aside from training at the training hall, if the weather permits, you and your teacher might be able to go to the park, or the lake, to train. Laixi is a relatively small city by Chinese standards, but has a few big shopping malls, Chinese and Korean style restaurants, a McDonalds, a KFC, a western restaurant, and a small theme park. The city is quite "off the beaten track", and therefore students get to experience a China that most tourists would not get to see. Please notice that the school is located in Zhang Gezhuang village, about 20 minutes away from the city. To get to the city, student's can either take a bus, or bike.

On Saturdays and Sundays, you can catch a bus (about $5US) to either Qingdao or Yantai, for a day of shopping or relaxation at the beach. Qingdao was the host of the 2008 olympic sailing games, and is a popular weekend destination for students, as it offers plenty of sights, as well as a night-life.
